Golf Swing Angle – Tom Watson Explains The Importance Of Maintaining Your Spine At The Right Angle

Do you have trouble with your golf swing? Don’t be embarrassed – we all do, even the professionals. The problem is that everyone has a different body, different levels of natural talent, different clubs and different golf swing instructors, so even when we have the same golf swing problem, there may be different causes. Well, one of these possible causes is the golf swing spine angle.

How do you know if your golf swing problem is caused by having the wrong spine angle? Honestly, you don’t. Not for sure. At least … not until you fix your spine angle. However, one obvious symptom is an inconsistent golf swing. If every ball you hit is too short, or every fifth ball you hit is a slice that always goes the same way and same distance, the problem is probably not caused by your golf swing angle.

For those of you who practice a lot (do you hit a hundred golf balls every evening after work?) and still have an inconsistent golf swing, watch this video by Tom Watson on how to detect whether or not the golf swing angle of your spine is correct.

Now, some of you may watch this video and say, “Hey! I have this problem with my spine angle when I swing my club!”. So you go and practice what Tom Watson teaches for a few weeks, and finally get your golf swing spine angle correct. But oops! You discover that your golf swing becomes worse. How can this be? Could Tom be a fake?

Heck, no! But having worked on various IT projects for over a decade, I learned one important thing. Sometimes one bug can mask another. Two bugs together in the program can make it seem like there is only one small problem. But the reality is that after you fix the first bug, other problems caused by the second bug will show up. Sometimes there are even more bugs hiding in the wings, awaiting their turn in the limelight.

Well, golf swing problems are sometimes like those computer bugs. You just have to be patient and work through the problems one by one. If you have a problem with your spine angle, then fix that first. Then you can fix your other golf swing problems one by one as they surface.
